Welcome an international language student into your home
Open your home to the world and host one of our international students taking part in various English programmes at BLC. This is an amazing opportunity to take part in an enriching cultural exchange, sharing your own customs and traditions whilst learning about an array of different cultures represented by our students. Hosts often find it to be an incredibly rewarding experience and build long-lasting relationships with their students.
Who will you be hosting?
We have lots of many students of different ages and nationalities throughout the year, with our peak months being June-August.
Adult students (18+)
For 18+ students you will need to provide a single room. The majority require half board catering (breakfast and evening meal Monday to Friday, 3 meals at weekends ), with some opting for self-catering.
For under 18 year old students single or twin room for the student(s)* and breakfast, packed lunch, and dinner each day.
Young children (7-9) and parent
If you have a twin or two single rooms, you can host a 7-9 year old taking part in our English for Kids programme and their parent. Their parent will accompany them at all times.
Demi au Pair students
Our Demi au Pair students are 18-28 year old European students who complete 20 hours of childcare per week for their host whilst they study a part time English course at BLC. Minimum stay of 3 months. Click here to find out more about being a Demi au Pair host.
What will you need to do?
• We look for households who are friendly, welcoming, and willing to share their lives with a student from a different culture.
• We are looking for a clean, comfortable and safe environment where students can live and study. They will need laundry facilities and a weekly change of bed linen and towels.
• Hosts provide meals on a half board or full board basis, including a sit-down dinner.
• You will need to have a gas safety certificate for your home and hosts for under 18 students will require an enhanced DBS (we can help you with this) and two references.
What will we do for you?
We work hard to match our host families and student and give you all the necessary information and support in advance of students' arrival to make sure you feel ready to welcome them.
Our friendly team are always on hand to help you with any questions or concerns, and will work to ensure both hosts and students have a positive experience.
We are a British Council accredited school and a member of English UK and Quality English.
