I came to Bristol for the first time last year to work as an intern at BLC. It was a very useful experience: I improved my English and, at the same time, I learnt how a real work place works. I mainly helped Joanna at the reception dealing with new arrivals, student enquiries and phone calls. I also helped other staff members from different departments, since it was an extremely busy summer.
This summer is very hectic as well, but I have different responsibilities compared to last year. This year I am employed by BLC and work with the team as a Student Support Officer. Basically I am in charge of adults’ accommodation and I have to make sure that every student is placed in the right host family according to their needs and preferences. Moreover I help the team in everyday enquiries and office work. It has been a month now and I can say that I am really happy to be back, it was a bit hard at the beginning as every new start usually is. However I am getting used to the new tasks and I really enjoy doing what I do. I am also the new warden at Elephant House and, even if sometimes it gets a bit chaotic, it is a good opportunity to meet new people. I am indeed meeting at least 2 new people every week.
Returning to BLC has been a very positive experience so far and I will try my best to help BLC students and to make sure that they are having a great time here with us.
