Being the Welfare officer at BLC is a very interesting job. I am often asked to help out students with things that are not always related to studying!
Many of our students hope to find a job while they are in the UK and often request help writing CVs. They are something that everybody struggles to write whether they speak English as a first language or not. However, writing a CV in a foreign language can be a daunting task. You have to know what the conventions are and whether to include a photo or not, for example. With my academic background and experience of teaching English for work, I am able to provide that information and advice.
In fact, this is one of the most enjoyable aspects of my job as it gives me the chance to get to know the students and their dreams and aspirations for the future. I hope that with the advice that I give them it makes a little bit of difference in their job search and its success!

Good luck with the job hunting!
